CAREGIVER’S SUPPORT GROUP - Support group and discussion meeting for family members and caregivers of those with Alzheimer's Disease or related disorders. Meetings are held from 1:30-2:30 p.m. the second Wednesday of each month at Barone Care Center. The group's purpose will be to offer peer support, problem-solving discussions and information about local resources. Meetings are free and open to the public. For more information and directions call Barone Alzheimer's Care Center at 417-448-3999. This group is affiliated with the Alzheimer's Association, Southwest Missouri Chapter. (Respite care is not available)
CHILDBIRTH CLASS - Intended for women in the last trimester of pregnancy. One-day Saturday classes are offered Free of Charge. Class meets in the NRMC 3rd Floor Classroom 9 am – 4 pm. Class includes a tour of the NRMC OB Department. Class instructor is Joanna Perkins, RN.
DAY CARE PROVIDER’S EDUCATION – Educational credits are offered to assist licensed day care providers obtain their required class time annually. Class is offered the fourth Monday of the month, February thru October, 6:30-8:30 pm. Class meets in the NRMC 3rd Floor Classroom. No charge to attend.
DIABETIC EDUCATION – Educational class for person diagnosed with diabetes. Session lead by Darla Englebrecht, RN, Diabetic Educator. All participants must have a doctor’s referral to attend. Register by calling 448-3622.
INFANT/CHILD CPR - Parents & Caregivers can learn how to perform CPR on an infant or small child. No charge to attend. Registration is required. Joanna Perkins, RN, Class instructor.
FREEDOM FROM SMOKING – The American Lung Association’s Freedom from Smoking Course teaches a variety of different techniques to help individuals quit smoking. Lifestyle modification is the key to the course. A fee of $30 is charged for the class, materials included. Class is lead by Tim Wilson, Respiratory Therapy Director.
HEARTSAVER CPR – American Heart Association’s CPR for the layperson. Class teaches CPR basics. $20 fee is charged for the class. Class meets in the 3rd Floor Classroom. Class instructor is Darla Englebrecht, RN.
LA LECHE LEAGUE BREASTFEEDING SUPPORT GROUP - Designed for women who are currently breastfeeding or who are pregnant & want more information about breastfeeding. Support group is led by Krista Hope, RN, Le Lache League Leader. Children are welcome to attend. Group meets on Tuesday evenings at 6:30 pm in the 3rd Floor Classroom, no fee to attend.
LUNCH & LEARN – Variety of health related topics are discussed and presented by a healthcare professional. If you have a topic you would like to hear about, call the Community Education department with your suggestion (417) 448-3622.
SIBLING CELEBRATION - Designed for children 2-6 years. Helps children celebrate becoming a big brother or big sister. Class includes a tour of the OB department. The class meets in the Medical Arts Conference Room, free of charge.
SPEAKERS BUREAU - Available free to the public, Subject-matter experts available on a variety of healthcare topics.
