Routine respiratory care services include: Oxygen Administration, Aerosol Treatments, Ventilator Care, Electrocardiograph (EKG), 24-hour Holter Monitoring, Cardiac Stress Testing, Oximetry, Pulmonary Function Testing, Polysomnography (Sleep Studies), and Pulmonary Clinic. Neurodiagnostic testing: Electroencephalograms (EEG) are performed at NRMC. This is a recording of brain wave activity. The EEG is used for evaluating seizure disorders, central nervous system infections, assessment of head injuries and many others. The test takes about two hours to perform. Interpretations of the tests are performed by Neurologists at Children's Mercy in Kansas City and by the Kansas City Neurology Group. Pulmonology: Pulmonary Clinic is available on Wednesdays at NRMC. This service is provided by Dr. Subramanian, M.D. Referrals need to be made through your primary care provider. Sleep Studies: A sleep study, known as polysomnography, is used to determine if the patient has sleep apnea. This is a potentially dangerous situation in which the patient may stop breathing when they are asleep. Metropolitan Sleep Services Inc. provides this service at NRMC.
