Dietitians
Eating right and learning about good nutrition are important whether you are a hospitalized patient or just want to adopt a healthier lifestyle.
Registered Dietitians work as members of a multidisciplinary team to look after patients hospitalized at NRMC. Patients receive medical or surgical help with their conditions, but some have conditions that can also benefit from special diets. Eating more of certain foods and/or avoiding certain foods can help control a patient’s symptoms. In some cases, by carefully monitoring what sick patients eat or drink, the dietitian can reduce the chance that they will have problems in the long-term and can help maintain or improve their quality of life. They visit patients (or their caregivers) receiving hospital care to check on their health and ensure their diet meets their needs. They can also be involved in treating disease through diet; for example, people who have diabetes or heart disease.
In addition to inpatient care, dietitians can provide outpatient services to individuals with a doctor’s order. These services include diet assessment, planning, education, and counseling for those with specific nutrition related needs like cardiac problems, diabetes, or obesity.
NRMC currently staffs two licensed Dietitians, Kim Wegner, MS, RD/LD and Lindsey Morgan, RD/LD.
