NRMC Foundation Hosts Gone Country Gala

The Nevada Regional Medical Center Foundation hosted the Gone Country Gala on Saturday, October 17 at the Nevada Fraternal Order of Eagles. Attendees enjoyed a social hour, followed by fine cuisine provided by Gobbler’s Roost. Entertainment for the evening included music from Sober as a Judge and individual flipbooks from KC Flipbooks. Guests were inundated with door and raffle prizes throughout the night and the annual Award of Excellence was presented to an NRMC associate and physician. Proceeds from the sponsorships, ticket sales and raffle ticket sales will be used to fund kitchen and cafeteria renovations at NRMC.

As guests settled down for dinner, they were welcomed and thanked by Don Wood, Foundation Board of Directors and Bob Beaver, Board Chairman. At the conclusion of dinner Aimee Starlin, introduced herself as the new Foundation Director.

Physicians and employees of the hospital nominated peers for the annual Award of Excellence whom they believed to exemplify the NRMC mission of providing quality patient care while promoting individual and community wellness. Judy Feuquay, NRMC President and CEO announced the employee Award of Excellence winner as Allison Fast, IT Applications Analyst. Dr. Daniel Barnes, 2008 physician Award of Excellence winner, announced Dr. F.L. Thompson as his successor. The awards were accepted by the award winners peers as they were both unable to attend.

Many guests enjoyed dressing the part of western elegance. Several cowboy hats and boots adorned the dance floor as Sober as a Judge set the tone for the rest of the evening with 60s and 70s dance music cover songs. The crowd buzzed with excitement over the fun to be had in the KC Flipbooks room. Guests entertained themselves and each other by acting in front of a camera for a mere 6 seconds to produce their own personalized flipbook keepsake of the evening.

Raffle tickets were sold for most of the night. Buyers had the chance of winning a Nintendo Wii, 22” LCD TV or Kitchenaid Mixer. After drawings for the first three “big ticket” items, tickets were pooled for a chance to win one of several other great prizes donated from local businesses.

The Gone Country Gala raised a total of $13,980, which is the most the Foundation Gala has raised in its four year history. Proceeds from the event will be used for the Foundation 2009 capital project; purchasing new kitchen equipment and renovating the hospital cafeteria at NRMC. This year’s gala also saw the highest attendance in its history with more than 180 attendants.
