| Technological Advances Underway at NRMC
Construction for installation of the new Magnetic Resonance Imaging device (MRI) at
Nevada Regional Medical Center is well underway. The hospital is remodeling the
existing radiology department to create a more private suite for patients undergoing an
MRI service.
“With this upgrade, NRMC’s MRI services will be highly competitive with that of
hospitals in Joplin or Kansas City. Even more types of exams will now be able to be
performed,” Todd E. Fine, Director of Radiology at NRMC said.
The new MRI purchased from Sieman’s Corporation has a higher field strength magnet
which will provide Radiologists with a higher resolution scan. This allows more in-depth
images for the Radiologist to see.
“With the higher field strength of this magnet, we will be able to do some things that we
are not currently able to do such as the imaging of hands and feet. Additionally, the
upgradability of the unit will allow us to continually keep up with the latest technology in
MRI,” Dr. Roger Francis, Nevada Imaging said.
Construction is expected to be complete in early fall and the first use date of the new
equipment is scheduled for mid November.
