NRMC Prepares to Assist With Joplin Tornado Disaster

Nevada Regional Medical Center is a member of the Missouri Hospital Mutual Aid Agreement. This concerted effort is a program designed to organize hospitals and other healthcare providers in the state of Missouri and surrounding areas in the wake of a disaster.

“We are organized and following all of the Mutual Aid protocols so we are prepared to help if we are needed,” Judy Feuquay, CEO at NRMC said.

NRMC has declared a Code Yellow disaster phase 1. This means that the administrative and medical teams have organized resources and are prepared if they are called upon for help. As of Monday morning, no medical staff have been requested. However, medical supplies were requested and sent on 2 separate occasions late Sunday night.

The Emergency Department at NRMC treated five patients who were injured in the tornado. The patients drove to Nevada for treatment due to the influx of patients at other hospitals along the way. The five patients were treated and released with only minor injuries.

Community Blood Center will be on site for a blood drive Thursday, May 26th from 1:30-4:30 p.m. in the Moore-Few Care Center Community Room at 901 S. Adams street in Nevada. Local citizens who wish to donate can help replenish the large supply that is likely to be used. Registrations are encouraged to ensure adequate supplies. Please call 417-448-3609 to register or visit esavealifenow.org.
