Hospital Managers Graduate from MHA Leadership Series

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — Fifty-two hospital managers graduated from the Missouri Hospital Association Center for Education’s Health Care Leadership Series on April 9. The program provides leadership training to a diverse cross section of hospital and health care supervisors and managers.

“In today’s highly demanding health care environment, managers must possess the skills to create value for their organizations,” said Herb B. Kuhn, MHA president and CEO. “The leadership series offers health care professionals the tools needed to strengthen their organizations and improve the quality of services.”

The series consists of comprehensive leadership training courses designed to enhance hospital staff’s managerial skills. The seven-month program includes training sessions featuring topics on building and retaining customer relationships, producing a high-performance workforce, designing and revising processes to ensure quality performance and understanding hospitals’ budgets and finances.

“Our faculty includes some of the most highly regarded experts in health care,” Kuhn said. “Graduates of the Health Care Leadership Series are poised to make significant contributions to health care in their communities.”

Two recent graduates from Nevada Regional Medical Center are Gary Headrick, Director of Ancillary Services, and Amy Beverley, Director of Patient Financial Services. “Although I’ve been a part of the leadership team at NRMC for many years, I found a lot of value in the program,” said Headrick. “There are always new techniques is management to learn.”

Beverley said, “I have a large team of employees at the hospital. Every person is unique and likes to be managed differently. The leadership series teaches ways to reach your employees and ensure your message is being understood.”

The Missouri Hospital Association is a not-for-profit association in Jefferson City that represents 153 Missouri hospitals. In addition to representation and advocacy on behalf of its membership, the association offers continuing education programs on current health care topics and seeks to educate the public, as well as legislative representatives, about health care issues.
