Health-grades.com recently completed a comparison of 10 skilled nursing facilities within a 30-mile radius of Nevada. The comparison used data from each facility such as state inspections, complaint investigations and repeat problems.
Healthgrades.com ranked Barone Alzheimer’s Care Center No. 1 and Moore-Few Care Center No. 2 out of the 10 facilities. Both facilities received a 5-star rating. There were three facilities that received a 5-star rating and the remaining seven facilities received 3-star ratings. In 2006, Barone and Moore-Few were also ranked No. 1 and No. 2, respectively.
The state inspection comparison was done by assigning points to each deficiency received based on the scope and severity. This included all inspections over the past four years. The state average for the four-year period was -94 (the higher the number the worse the performance). Eight of the 10 facilities received a score of -50 to -115. Moore-Few scored -44 and Barone scored 0, a deficiency-free survey.
The comparison of complaint investigations showed one facility with 10 violations from these investigations, three facilities with 2 to 4 violations, three facilities with 1 violation, and three facilities with no violations. Moore-Few and Barone were among the three with no violations.
Care center officials said, "This is a perfect opportunity to THANK all of our staff for their hard work. A day in the life of a nursing home employee is very hard, both emotionally and physically. The results of the comparison show that our staff considers patient care to be a top priority. The extraordinary job that they’re doing doesn’t come from merely complying with regulations, it comes from the heart and it shows." |
